As a long-term alopecian, I’ve travelled down the path of steroid injections, minoxidil, and their crappy side effects. Until I started seeking a natural approach – in particular, topical serums that could help my hair thinning and hopefully, regrow hair.
Back in 2021, I fell in love with a brand of sweet-smelling hair growth serums. And from the Vegamour reviews I’ve read, I’m not alone!
In this Vegamour reviews post, I personally test a range of Vegamour hair growth serums and other products designed to treat thinning hair. (Spoiler alert: they improved my hair health and even helped my eyebrow grow back!)
So without further ado…enjoy my Vegamour review.
Emma’s ‘not a doctor’ disclaimer
Hi there, I’m an alopecian, I’m not a doctor! Any advice I give is based on my own research and personal experiences. This site is, however, reader-supported. When you buy through external links, I may earn a tiny affiliate commission. Learn more here.
Vegamour was created as a ‘clean beauty company’ in 2017. Its mission? To “make powerful, plant-based products with clinical efficacy and real visible results.” Nowadays, they’re committed to sustainably sourced natural ingredients, creating a positive social/ethical impact and supporting Fair Trade initiatives.
Lots to admire, but does the vegan hair growth serum work? In my experience, yes – and Vegamour makes plenty of other hair thinning and hair growth products for women and men.
Vegamour promises noticeably denser hair in 3–4 months with its clean, vegan, gluten-free and toxin-free formula. No parabens, synthetic fragrances, dyes, phthalates, petrolatum or finasteride here. Just natural ingredients that support hair growth. Woohoo!
But what else makes Vegamour such an effective hair thinning treatment? Let’s see!
Vegamour Gro Hair serum – its original hair growth serum – deeply nourishes a dry scalp, meaning less brittle hair that can snap during brushing.
In fact, a clinical study published on their website showed 70% less shedding and 50% greater hair density after 4 months of daily use of this Vegamour Gro Hair Serum.
When I was pregnant with my daughter Sunny, I shed A LOT of hair; with a new bald spot at my crown and more hair falling out every time I washed it. After massaging Vegamour shampoo and conditioner, plus their hair serum, into my scalp for a few weeks, the shedding stopped!
Vegamour Gro+ Advanced serum is ideal for those with thinning hair, because the hair growth serum activates your follicles to improve thickness and volume. This is largely thanks to curcumin and nicotiana benthamiana, which are highly concentrated proteins that contribute to hair density.
In my own experience with the hair serum, I saw thicker hair after just one use.
Mung bean and red clover extracts act as natural DHT blockers. So Vegamour serums work right at the follicle to fight damaging free radicals and slow the rate of hormone-related hair fall, including conditions like androgenetic alopecia.
At first, this wasn’t the the case for me – as I experienced quite a lot of postpartum hair shedding and Vegamour’s women’s hair growth products didn’t seem to help.
BUT when I began using its eyebrow serum daily, the brow I’d lost while pregnant grew back within just 2 months! I also saw some baby hairs filling into my bald patches after using the serum, but unfortunately they didn’t develop into thicker hair.
The anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties of Vegamour’s formula can ease dry scalp conditions like psoriasis, dandruff or seborrheic dermatitis – which often trigger hair fall.
And when you have a nourished, healthy scalp environment? That’s the kind of landscape for promoting hair growth, whatever your hair type!
I saw similar benefits when I began using another all-natural vegan shampoo called Revita. It also smells great and is cheaper than Vegamour hair serum, FYI – read my review on that here.
Many alopecians lose their eyebrows or lashes as well as experiencing hair thinning on their scalp. And in a clinical study, users noticed 94% more brow density and volume and 34% more brow length after using Vegamour’s specialized brow and lash serums.
While pregnant, I started losing my right eyebrow until it disappeared. At one time, a daily massage with castor oil and peppermint essential oil was effective, but after a while, that stopped working, too. When I started using VegaBrow hair serum, I saw initial regrowth after just 2 weeks, with almost complete regrowth after a few months.
There’s a reason why these serums are among the best hair growth products for women: they actually work.
Vegamour’s vegan hair treatments are paraban free, without the harmful side effects of more chemical-heavy products. (Even Nioxin – which I love and still recommend as one of the best treatments for thinning hair – can cause redness, irritation and sometimes more hair shedding for those with sensitive scalps.)
While Vegamour’s GRO+ Advanced Serum is packed with proteins, vitamins, inflammation-reducers and immune-boosters – without any bad reactions. The following bio-active ingredients have been clinically tested to help improve hair growth:
Research into CBD for hair loss shows that hemp oil acts as an anti-inflammatory: lowering stress in the body (caused by the autoimmune response), and slowing down the rate of hair fall. So not only can hemp oil encourage regrowth, it can reduce the anxiety and inflammation that triggers hair sheddin in the first place.
Hemp oil is also an antioxidant that lowers free radical damage. Meaning increased blood circulation and a faster delivery of vitamins and minerals to the scalp, improving hair health in general.
Vegamour gets its folate, a B vitamin, from mung beans. When applied topically, folate supports healthy red blood cells, tissue and cell production and can even stimulate hair growth. (Without the bloated bean belly. Phew.)
Psst…folate is also a key ingredient in Folexin, a popular hair supplement. Read my Folexin review here or check it out for yourself.
One cause of hair thinning is linked to the hormone DHT, a by-product of testosterone. When DHT attaches itself to your hair follicle, your inbuilt “receptor” – like a sensor – tells the follicle to shrink and protect itself. Over time, this process weakens and shrinks the hair follicle until the hair shaft breaks off.
Red clover acts as a natural DHT blocker to avoid these dormant hair follicles. In doing so, red clover improves hair anchoring and strengthens each strand at the root. Good news for anyone suffering from female or male pattern hair loss in particular.
Turmeric, and its key compound, curcumin, reduces inflammation, boosts the immune system and helps hair growth by improving blood circulation. But its powerful yellow hue can stain; so I recommend taking daily curcumin supplements or, if going for a topical treatment, making sure it’s well diluted!
Vegamour products do contain curcumin – but don’t worry, they won’t stain.
Can cigarette smoke help hair growth?! Well, the nicotiana benthamiana plant could be a way to stimulate hair growth. Because like curcumin, this compound boosts the immune response and lowers inflammation.
I couldn’t find clinical studies on nicotiana benthamiana for hair growth; but, I did find research that shows tobacco leaves to promote hair growth and improve density. Since both plants are closely related, no doubt they share hair care benefits.
This bestseller hair serum contains a special blend of phyto-actives to inhibit DHT production, extend the hair’s growth (anagen) phase, and strengthen each follicle. The result? Thicker, fuller hair – all thanks to one non greasy formula.
Vegamour Gro Hair Serum is the hair growth treatment that clocked up all those positive Vegamour reviews – and the “before and after” photos are pretty damn promising! Check out this post for my full hair serum review.
Vegamour says you’ll see results within 90 days of using the hair growth serum, with peak results at 120 – so, around Month 4. It’s got all the lovely ingredients I mentioned above, plus hair growth promoters like biotin and caffeine.
Psst…Read my specialized Vegamour GRO hair serum post for another hair serum review and to see how it helped me.
Water/aqua/eau, butylene glycol, alcohol denat. glycerin, caffeine, polysorbate 20, curcuma longa (turmeric) callus conditioned media, panthenol, disodium edta, limonene, citrus aurantium bergamia (bergamot) peel oil, trifolium pratense (clover) seed extract, vigna radiata seed extract, sodium benzoate, linalool, potassium sorbate, gluconolactone, biotin, citral, calcium gluconate, oligopeptide-2.
What’s the difference between this hair product and the Vegamour Gro hair serum? Well, the Advanced serum takes the same nourishing plant-based formula as the GRO hair serum and adds a dose of micro-encapsulated, full-spectrum hemp oil!
CBD oil brings its own anti-inflammatory, blood-circulating properties to a scalp serum help fight hair fall. Plus, by boosting blow flow, it helps the rest of Vegamour’s hair serum nutrients to get even deeper into your hair follicles.
Unfortunately, I’m not sure whether results are quicker or not as I used the two interchangeably. Oops.
Aqua, Butylene Glycol, Glycerin, Alcohol Denat., Caffeine, Polysorbate 20, Curcuma Longa, (Turmeric) Callus Conditioned Media, Citrus Bergamia Peel Oil Expressed, Disodium Edta
Cannabis Sativa Flower/leaf/stem Extract, Propylene Glycol, Limonene, Cannabidiol, Trifolium, Pratense Sprout Extract, Vigna Radiata Sprout Extract, Sodium Benzoate, Glyceryl, Citrate/lactate/linoleate/oleate, Polyglyceryl-2 Oleate, Linalool, Potassium Sorbate, Gluconolactone, Biotin, Citral, Oligopeptide-2
This kit’s got the original hair growth serum plus a bottle of Vegamour’s biotin gummies for hair. The gummies are gluten-free, gelatin-free and vegan with no artificial flavors – just natural strawberry plus various B vitamins, folic acid, zinc and biotin.
Take 2 gummies a day and apply a couple of drops of the serum. Some customer reviews have reported an increase in volume and length after just 30 days of using this kit!
We’re all different so results will vary – but a two-pronged strategy to manage your hair thinning and to boost hair thickness seems like a good approach to me. When I started with the gummies, I noticed a big improvement in my energy and mood after only a few days!
Maltitol, Water Pectin, Citrus Pectin, Citric Acid, Natural Strawberry Flavor, Black Carrot Extract, Beta Carotene (for Color)
Unlike their other hair care treatments, you should apply this Vegamour hair growth serum BEFORE you shower. Massage it in deeply, using a scalp massager or just your fingers, leave it to rest, then rinse clean.
This hair serum includes a proprietary vegan silk protein to remove excess build-up and oils on the scalp while providing a protective barrier against common irritants. The result? A healthier, cleaner and more nourished scalp that’s free from bacteria: the ideal foundation to help your hair grow.
I loved this hair serum from the first time I used it. It felt cool and refreshing and when I went to rinse it off, my hair felt so silky!
Aqua, Propanediol, Pentylene Glycol, Glycerin, Sclerocarya Birrea Seed Oil, Alcohol denat., Adansonia Digitata Seed Oil, Dicaprylyl Carbonate, Zinc PCA, Inulin Lauryl Carbamate, Caffeine, Tocopherol, Xanthan Gum, Parfum, Glycine Soja Seed Extract, Sodium Phytate, D-Limonene, Epilobium Angustifolium Extract, SR-Spider Polypeptide-1, Sodium Hydroxide Phenoxyethanol, 1,2-Hexanediol, Caprylyl Clycol, Alcohol, Sodium Metabisulfite, Linalool
If you’re prone to neglecting a haircare routine (like I am!) this set is a great way to treat thinning hair. It’s also suitable for all hair types.
Enhanced with a proprietary protein called Karmatin™ (Vegamour’s vegan take on keratin), this set is about nourishing, thickening and strengthening your hair. Extra-hydrating oils (like marula and baobab) provide shine while reducing any damage caused by free radicals.
Both formulas are light – so they won’t weigh your hair down or clog your pores. Oh, and thanks to citrus essential oils, they smell AMAZING! Not at all like pungent hair thinning treatments, more like luxuries you can spoil yourself with. I loved this shampoo so much, it’s #2 on my best sulfate free shampoos list!
Psst… On the go? Try their handy new dry shampoo for the same great benefits and volumized locks.

As we’ve seen, Vegamour contains great natural hair growth ingredients. But sometimes it’s not just what’s inside that counts. It’s how those things work when you start using the product.
Vegamour uses a micro-encapsulation process, breaking its cruelty free formula down into super-small particles, to get through the upper dermis layers. So the treatment sinks much deeper into your follicles – meaning your scalp absorbs all those nutrients fully, rather than staying on the surface.
Even leading hair loss shampoos are rinsed off; but Vegamour hair growth serum gets deep enough to really stimulate circulation and help reduce the inflammation that triggers alopecia.
The results speak for themselves: customers who used Vegamour reported a 76% decrease in signs of shedding and a 52% increase in volume. Not bad.
Don’t rub these on your head but if you’re losing your brows as a result of alopecia or if you want a daily dose of vitamins, minerals and other nutrients to help thinning hair or even to regrow hair, here are some other products Vegamour has to offer.
LA Says: You can also use your serum on dry hair – it has a thin, watery and nearly odorless consistency so you’ll barely notice it! You can even apply it to hair extensions, if you have them.
Customers that use the serums LOVE them for thinning hair. And the brand has clocked up several five-star reviews, with people saying their hair has never been so long.
However, I’d advise against ordering Vegamour if you’re based in the UK. I’ve read a couple of customer reviews on TrustPilot who had to pay import taxes that aren’t made clear on Vegamour’s website. You can get around this by ordering via Amazon.
I have alopecia, and have tried everything. I started GRO+ 2 months ago, and it’s been a LIFE CHANGER. Since I started using the product every day, my hair stopped a lot of shedding and I’ve seen new hair regrowth and baby hairs coming in. This hair serum is definitely worth it! – Lexy
This hair serum is the real deal. I’d say I’m losing about half as much hair and my hair is feeling fuller. I love that Vegamour is vegan and transparent about what’s in each product. – Gail
I bought the GRO More Kit that has the GRO Biotin Gummies and the Gro Hair Serum. I take only 2 biotin gummies each day after my meal and later apply drops of the serum all over my edges which are my thinning areas. I massage my scalp so that the hair serum would work and help grow the hair on my edges. After 30 days, I noticed some baby hairs and that my edges are growing a bit longer. If I buy more Gro More Kits for every month, my edges will eventually grow longer and thicker. – Angeline
If you live in the UK and are concerned about import taxes, Folexin supplements are a great alternative. Another all-natural formula that’s easy to incorporate into your daily routine (just take 2 pills a day), without any hidden fees.
Folexin contains:
Another benefit is you can buy a few months’ worth of Folexin at once to lower costs. Read my full review or check it out below.
While some shoppers claim thicker hair and visible results after just 30 days, Vegamour advises that best results come after 3 months – with the most dramatic after 4 months of daily use. (Hair growth takes time, after all!) Vegamour even offers a money-back guarantee and will accept returns for any reason up to 90 days from the ship date.
Well, it’s like any beauty product. Results only last as long as you continue using it! Vegamour says that if you stop using the lash or brow serum, they’ll return to their natural state in a few weeks. The hair growth cycle is longer so it’ll return to how it was a few months after you stop using Vegamour.
Vegamour original Gro serum costs $52 for a 1oz bottle (one-time purchase), which will last you a month. You can also save 15% through its subscription model, with a new bottle delivered every month. Right now they’re offering free shipping for orders over 50%, too.
From what I’ve seen, none! The formula doesn’t contain any synthetic ingredients or harsh chemicals and even the botanicals are super-gentle. You can use it daily without any harmful side effects
Although most customers buy directly through Vegamour’s subscription service for better deals, you can also find its hugely popular VegaBROW serum and its shampoo/conditioner set on Amazon.
Only the GRO+ Advanced serum and other Advanced products do; the original hair serums and other products ones don’t.
We’ve covered a lot, so let’s do a quick summary of Vegamour’s pros and cons.
Like stress, hormone imbalance, genetics and lifestyle. So there isn’t a one time miracle cure. (Sorry!)
But I truly believe that natural products like Vegamour can help hair loss. Because their hair serums and other treatments nourish the scalp environment. They clear excess build-up that causes irritation and itchiness. And they strengthen each follicle for optimal growth conditions.
They do all this in a much more gentle way than Minoxidil, and this hair care routine can be just as effective, especially when combined with healthy lifestyle habits.
I’m a big fan of Vegamour: its ingredients, its scent, its pretty packaging and how my hair looks after using it.
But I appreciate that their hair serums don’t come cheap: especially if you have to pay import fees. While I don’t think Vegamour is a scam I do think you should check all fees carefully before you buy. I would recommend it as a natural treatment for alopecia – but use your best judgement!

I am curious if you have tried Monat hair products and would you compare Mona to Vegamour? I am on the fence for both and honestly do not know the difference to decide which is better! Thanks!
Hi Heather, thanks for writing in!
I’m afraid I can’t give you an honest answer to that as I’ve never used Monat products. Looking at their ingredients list, the products appear to be all-natural and there are some interesting ones in there, like tomato seed oil and moringa oil. However, I haven’t heard of any of the ingredients (apart from coconut oil) to work specifically for hair loss/hair growth…but that’s just my opinion! I’m a big fan of Vegamour for its natural DHT blockers (like red clover) and especially because of curcumin, which is an anti-inflammatory that works to reduce hair loss. But having not tried Monat treatments before, I’m probably biased on that front and can only advise you to go for whichever brand speaks to you! 🙂 Would be interested in hearing how you get on either way.
All the very best!
Emma/Lady Alopecia x
Have you tried this? Does it actually work? Can you show before and after pics of it working?
Hi Ana, thanks for your questions! If you read this post, you’ll see that I haven’t yet had a chance to try Vegamour. Also, as I mention in the comments, I’m having trouble getting it sent to Vietnam with COVID delays. This post is simply to highlight its key benefits and also give a full breakdown of its ingredients…and I have used curcurmin for immune-boosting and anti-inflammatory properties, which really helps! I wanted to cover an all-natural serum with no side effects and am confident Vegamour delivers on that. The reviews I’ve read have been hugely positive, which is why I’m really trying to get my hands on it! I’ll update this post whenever it arrives and I can try it out myself. In the meantime, if you want to try products I’ve personally used, check out Nioxin (full review here), Pura D’Or (review here) or Revita (my number one shampoo on this list).
Hope that helps!!
Emma 🙂
Have you ever used Nioxin the shampoo and conditioner and use at night Vegamour serum?
Hi Eunice,
Great question! I love Nioxin shampoo and conditioner – in fact I write all about it here – as its system (including a hair growth treatment spray) is what helped my hair grow back. And I actually haven’t had a chance to try Vegamour personally yet – I’m still trying to get it sent to Vietnam through COVID delays – but I really like the sound of it and I think your suggestion to mix is a good one. Because while I loved the hair growth treatment from Nioxin it does contain lots of chemicals, and Vegamour seems to be a more natural option. Plus, it’s got that CBD oil and if you’re leaving it in overnight, that’d be extra nourishing!
Good luck, and let me know how you get on!
