With so many supplements around these days, it’s hard to separate the helpful from the hustles, the products which can genuinely reduce shedding and support regrowth vs the ones that pack in every ingredient under the sun, yet not make any difference.
When I started researching WellBel as an alternative to big-hitters like Nutrafol, they stood out. Their website states how they “focus on fewer ingredients and greater results”. By including a smaller ingredient list, yet higher dosages of the right essential vitamins and minerals to nourish hair, Wellbel’s strength lies in its purity.
Their supplements don’t promise to immediately stop hair thinning; rather, they focus on full body wellness to balance hormones and blood sugar levels, reduce inflammation and oxidative stress and provide the optimal conditions for a healthy scalp – without dodgy side effects.
But what else is special about this brand compared to the rest? And does WellBel really work? That’s what I’ll be investigating, in the following Wellbel reviews post.
Emma’s ‘not a doctor’ disclaimer
Hi there, I’m an alopecian, I’m not a doctor! Any advice I give is based on my own research and personal experiences. This site is, however, reader-supported. When you buy through external links, I may earn a tiny affiliate commission. Learn more here.
WellBel are physician formulated supplements for men and women, designed to support hair, skin and nails…and all things beauty! Their formula includes key vitamins and minerals to aid with hormonal imbalances, while stimulating keratin and collagen production.
The doctor behind the pills is called Dr Dan (yep, that’s his real name, apparently). When his 2 sisters came to him about their hair loss woes, Dr Dan saw there was a gap in the market for products that used the highest quality, vegan and drug-free ingredients.
Sure, there were plenty of other supplements around, with similar ingredients that would end up in WellBel’s formula. But the difference is in the dosage.
Dr Dan’s sisters tried many of the leading supplements and they didn’t work – because they contained only a fraction of the ingredient potency necessary to make a real difference. Plus, they were far too high in biotin, which caused them skin issues (more on excessive biotin coming up).
So Dr Dan set out to create something different, with a formula that aimed to “Nourish From Within”. As a leader in integrative medicine and clean science, he was well-placed to do so – and he created WellBel to inspire healthy living, merging the gap between science and emotional wellness, while emphasizing the importance of the mind-body connection.
Having used quite harsh treatments on my scalp before like minoxidil, which not only caused swelling and redness, but gave me severe headaches and dizzy spells, I’m all about a more natural approach these days.
Thankfully, WellBel includes some great natural ingredients that support hair – in a much more gentle way.
Plus, WellBel pays a lot of attention to the dosage of each ingredient and how they blend together for maximum efficacy. For instance, they include a balanced dose of biotin (500mcg), preventing the risk of breakouts or rashes that are associated with high biotin levels.
The evidence-based supplements, and their individual ingredients, undergo a lot of testing for effectiveness, which are published in clinical studies on their website. The resulting formula is recommended by doctors, neuroscientists and celebrities alike – Ashley Tisdale is a big fan!
What else? These supplements are drug-free, gluten-free and don’t contain artificial colors. They’re also vegan and GMO-free. Woohoo!
Glam Lab supplements work to support hair, skin and nail health from within. As hormone imbalance is such a common cause of hair loss, particularly in women, WellBel Women pinpoints these hormonal imbalances with ingredients like saw palmetto to promote a healthy hair cycle.
Plus, since saw palmetto helps to balance hormones, you’ll only see regrowth in the places you actually want it. Phew!
The daily supplements also work to stimulate collagen production, plus elastin and keratin, which can decrease with age. If you’re pregnant or breastfeeding, check with your doctor before taking WellBel for Women, or indeed any vitamin outside of your usual prenatal or postnatal vitamin.
I’ve been struggling with hair loss / thinning since having my second baby, and when I say WellBel has helped – RUN, don’t walk, to order this!! I’m already seeing an improvement in hair growth, regrowth, and overall health!! Plus, I think it’s helped level some hormonal issues I was having!

This stuff really works! I’ve tried every hair growth product on the market (from nutrafol to viviscal). They not only didn’t work but they also caused me to break out from the high dose of biotin. Thanks to WellBel my hair is the healthiest it’s ever been (longer, fuller and shinier) and my skin looks its best too. I also have a crazy amount of new hairs. Definitely recommend and make sure you consistently take it daily.

The supplements for men focus on thickening and strengthening existing hair while promoting growth right from the hair follicles – with high concentrations of sulphur-rich MSM, an anti-inflammatory that helps form bonds essential to strengthening your hair’s keratin to boost hair growth.
The formula also include a high concentration of saw palmetto fruit extract, which has been proven in studies to lower DHT – a hormone linked to male pattern baldness – and both zinc and copper, for testosterone conversion.
It’s a much more gentle approach to treating thinning hair than say, treatments which contain finasteride. These treatments can have bad side effects, like a decrease in sexual function, so WellBel happily does not include finasteride.
Finally! With thinning hair and no luck from the other products out there, I was getting desperate. I’m thrilled with WellBel so far. I’ve not only seen new hair growth, but my hair is thicker, stronger and healthier looking. I’m pretty sure it is helping my skin too. The natural formulation was important to me and it delivers. Definitely worth the investment!

Recommended by my dermatologist. Quality ingredients and a great natural alternative to prescription medications, without the side effects. Noticeable less shedding and my hair overall feels healthier.

Although I can’t say there are zero associated side effects (because people can be allergic to natural botanicals, too), negative reactions are pretty rare.
That could be because WellBel includes low levels of biotin – which, in excessive levels, can cause nausea or acne, skin rashes and breakouts for those with a sensitivity or who already have an excess of biotin in their body.
Unlike some of the hair supplements I love, like Folexin and Vegamour gummies (which both contain 5,000mcg of biotin) and Nutrafol, which includes 3,000mcg, Wellbel only contains 500mcg. The only supplement with lower biotin levels that I’ve come across so far is Viviscal, with 120mcg. See my full Viviscal review post for more info.
So if you know you’re sensitive to biotin, WellBel or Viviscal might be the best hair supplement for you.
Although WellBel seems safe to use, I would still check with your doctor first – particularly if you’re pregnant or breastfeeding, or if you have known hormonal issues or cancer as the high silica content of horsetail extract can increase estrogen levels.
Take 3 supplements daily – so a single bottle containing 90 capsules will last you a month. It’s recommended that you take them in one go in the morning or evening, with food for optimal absorption.
You can even open the 3 capsules and add them to a smoothie or yoghurt! Wellbel recommends taking the supplements for at least 3 months and that, as with any supplement, the longer you take them, the better the results.
WellBel advises daily use for at least 3 months for the best results. You may start noticing an improvement in your skin, nails and hair after the second month but that for a reduction in hair shedding and increased growth, it’ll more likely be after 90 days.
A single bottle is $68, although you can get up to 18% off when you sign up for a monthly subscription on their website.
You can order direct from their website or buy WellBel supplements for women and men on Amazon.
I must admit, I’d never heard of WellBel until a Lady Alopecia recommended them to me. Now, having read a lot more about them, their ingredients and their ethos, I’m sold!
I love that they include fewer ingredients to give a greater impact. In that way, they’re similar to Folexin, the supplement I recommend most on Lady Alopecia. So many of the hair supplements I’ve come across have such a giant ingredients list, I wonder could they be effective at all – or whether it’s safe to be taking so many things we mightn’t even need?!
WellBel have put great consideration into what they include in each capsule, and how much of that ingredient is necessary. I guess it’s because of Dr Dan’s background in internal medicine and integrative medicine – he knows what he’s talking about when it comes to whole-body wellness, and how to support physical, mental and emotional health through the right diet and supplementation.
So I’m happy to recommend WellBel as a safe, natural alternative for reducing shedding and seeing regrowth – but I’d love to hear your thoughts. Have you ever tried WellBel? Or are you keen to, having read this post? Let me know in the comments!
